Movie Review: Isn’t Romantic
This film is directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson and it stars Rebel Wilson, Liam Hemsworth, Priyanka Chopra, Adam DeVine, Tom Ellis and Betty Gilpin.
This film is about Natalie (Rebel Wilson), an intelligent architect, who has always had issues with romantic comedies. Natalie doesn’t believe in love and in a way has lost some of her self dignity. She is then advised by her best friend (played by Betty Gilpin) to be more open to possibilities of dating and perhaps falling in love. She then gets hit in the head and wakes up in an alternate world where everything is part of a romantic comedy movie. She must then fall in love and/or make someone fall in love with her to try to get out of that world.
When I saw this trailer I automatically knew I’d want to see this movie. I’m very happy I did. This film is hilarious and an absolute blast!! This movie makes fun on the typical romantic comedies all while it’s a romantic comedy of its own. I enjoyed that the lead character in this movie isn’t your typical skinny female. Natalie (Rebel Wilson) gives several great one liners. The supporting cast is good. Personally, I thoroughly enjoyed Rebel Wilson as Natalie. Natalie was definitely my favorite character in this movie. I liked the message in regards to image insecurities. This film isn’t only about loving someone else but it’s also loving yourself. It definitely follows the motto of “If you don’t love yourself how can you love anyone else”? Yes it has cheesy and eye rolling moments but it’s a romcom what else can you expect?! Overall I had a great time and very much liked this movie! Yes, I’d recommend you go see this movie.
I give this film a 8.5 out of 10
