This film is directed Christopher Landon and it stars Jessica Rothe, Israel Broussard, Ruby Modine, Suraj Sharma, Rachel Matthews and Charles Aitken.
This story is the sequel to Happy Death Day and it goes into the true origin of why the one specific day repeats itself. Tree (Jessica Rothe) finds herself stuck in the same day (same day as the first film) and must find the way to make it stop. She finds out who is responsible for the repetition of the day and she must die multiple times to find the way to make it stop.
It’s rare when I like a sequel a bit more than the first film. This film definitely did it for me! I cried, laughed and was in suspense in several scenes. I thoroughly enjoyed that this film took me by surprise and it completely proved my theories wrong. I do admit that this film becomes more scientific than the first one and that the unveiling of why the day will repeat over and over somewhat ruined the first film for me but in all honesty I didn’t mind. I was intrigued by the science behind the film. I liked the dimensions and how the characters are different in a different dimension. I enjoyed all the performances and I was fond of the newly introduced characters. There was a specific scene that I cried like a child. I was able to relate to the main character and her loss of a certain family member and I just couldn’t help but to cry. Mid credit scene was good, perhaps an indication that they’ll be a third film coming. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I know I’m late to the party but let me tell you guys that I’m very glad I got to see it. I’d recommend to go see it.
I give this film a 8.8 out of 10
