Movie Review: The Intruder
This film is directed by Deon Taylor and it stars Dennis Quaid, Meagan Good, Michael Ealy, Joseph Sikora and Alvina August.
This film follows the newlywed couple of Scott (Michael Ealy) and Annie (Meagan Good) as they decided to purchase a new home outside the city. The home is purchased from its owner Charlie (Dennis Quaid) who recently lost his wife and will have some difficulties losing his house too. The newlyweds have to deal with Charlie and his mental issues while at the same time trying to start their new life.
This movie is ok. Perhaps my heart may be hardening or my emotions are dusting away. I didn’t care in the least for the characters safety. This movie didn’t do much for me to develop an attachment for the newlyweds so later in the movie I could worry and care for their safety. I did find Dennis Quaid to be creepy and a psychopath and his performance was phenomenal. His performance was such that at the beginning of this movie I somewhat felt pity for the man. As the movie continues to play on I realized he was a psychopath and deserved no pity at all. There was a secondary character whom I did care for their safety and was moved to see what happened to him in this movie. This movie had an interesting story and a good soundtrack other than that it’s an ok thriller. Admittingly so the third act does get suspenseful and gets into a horror film temporarily. I was also taken off guard when the movie suddenly ends. To me it was a bit slow and not engaging whatsoever. I can’t recommend this film.
I give this film a 4 out of 10
